Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix was one of the best guitarist to ever pluck the strings. Hendrix was born November 27, 1942. Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle, Washington, He was the first of 5 children. He started out with a broom stick as a guitar and later upgraded to a $guitar his father bought him from a friend.

Jimi Hendrix had a somewhat rough child hood. He often lived with family members and sometimes with family friends. When Jimi started playing a guitar as a teenager he played a right handed guitar upside down because he was left handed.

“Hendrix worked as a session guitarist under the moniker Jimmy James (Laurie Watson).” Jimi Hendrix had some out crazy guitar styles including playing behind his back, with his teeth, and without touching the strings. He showed the 400,000 people at Woodstock these skills as he was the closing act. Jimi’s music still influence many artists today such as Gorge Clinton and Jonny Lang to name a few.

Sadly in September 18, 1970 at age 27 the legend passed away. Hendrix died from a barbiturate overdose. All though the legend is not with us now he will never be forgot at the king of guitar and will always be iconic in the rock and roll industry and influence generations of music to come.

I chose Hendrix because he was one of the greatest. He was able to inspire so many people with his great music that I still listen to today. He would have been 70 years old if he were still alive. He also was not afraid to show what he was feeling demonstrated in the Star Spangled Banner against the Vietnam War preformed at Woodstock. Jimi Hendrix will always be the greatest.
