the history of gaming

The history of gaming, the very first example of recognized gaming was created by Dr. Edward Uhler Condon in the new york worlds fair in 1940. Thousands of people played it, to be exact it was 50,000 people only after 6 months of being released to the public. But the actual first gaming system was released 3 decades later when the “Brown Box” prototype was released. This was a commercial gaming system but as i said was released in 1967.

The game spacewar was created 50 years ago believe it or not! It’s known to be the second VIDEO GAME created, But many people say that that should have the title of the first video game but in reality more people actually think pong was the first video game which is not true., it was actually the first arcade game which depending on the person could i suppose be as well in the same category of the first video game.. Majority of the games created even to this day are based around role play and adventures where you take the identity of another character who may or may not even exist.

Anyways more about space war, it was created by Steve Russell in 1961 (a student at massachusetts institute of technology). It was also the first interactive computer game and the graphics were made up of ASCII text characters.

But then there was Ralph Baer who was an engineer at sanders associates wanted to explore the idea of gaming that was interactive and uses a television instead of a computer. This idea was first becoming an “idea” per say in 1966. When he acted upon it, it was already a whole year of planning, building, mistakes, and a good time with technology. But by the time that a year had passed it was 1967 and they had actually created TWO new interactive television games. There was a chase game and a tennis game, they were able to manipulate a toy gun so that it detects spots of light on the television. First arcade game released was in 1971 and was called Computer Space, public consensus said that the game was to difficult to play. So games vary from computer, television, roleplay in reality and roleplay on a video game. As long as our imagination lets us roam, then we can live in any game we want to
