Media Productions Final

Ben Mai– Mr. Decker–3rd Hour–12/20/17

When I first signed up for Media Productions class I heard you produce the news and some other things for the school. I was super excited! When day one of high school came I was even more happy, I found out there was four sections in the class, changing every 4 weeks; Podcast, News, Blog, Commercial. As the weeks turned into months, it was always the highlight of my day, and now it is coming to a sad ending. But I will tell you a three things you have to remember, so let’s reflect upon the year.

First of all, don’t procrastinate. This is super simple and obvious, but it happens a lot. I thought it’s easy to produce a podcast, a blog, a commercial, or even news but I’ll tell you now, it’s not. I thought with forty-five minutes, there is a ton of time, but I found that is not the case. It’s very difficult to produce something with good quality in a short amount of time, unless were talking about in-and-out, now that’s yummy and fast! I mean, you might just look over this statement because it seems obvious and told to you all the time. But why else would it be said all the time if it wasn’t true? It’s not only in this class that you will need to know to not procrastinate; not even in school in that matter. This is important because in the future you will get a job, even if it is fast food. It’s not like school, they will take you out of your job (AKA fire you) if you wait till the last minute to do your job, or not meet any deadlines, there is no late work accepted.

Second, don’t mess around. I  needed some recuperation with this one, with computers, it’s easy to play games, or go on social media. I knew it was easy to free roam throughout the school and distracted. Some other groups this year have messed around all week and when it was Friday, and they had nothing, and they had to be crazy “productive”. I put the quotations as they produced bad content, which I will talk about later. In the future, you might have a computer-desk job and will be able to do anything you want on that, so learning all this now helped me prepare for the future. So, in the end, it’s just good to not mess around during this class, it will produce bad content and stress you out more than anyone should be.

Lastly, Spend time on the projects. I might be able to can get away with procrastination and messing around, sometimes, but the outcome is very bad as I have said before. Examples could be possibly bad lighting, which seemed to be a big problem with some of the news groups. Possibly simple grammar mistakes in the blog group, or just bad editing in every group. I have always said, quality over quantity. You usually produce one thing a week, but instead of doing it all in one day I tried to spread it all out through the week to make it as best as possible. I learned from the podcast group (my first one) that it’s fun to do this class so why not explore all the functions and things you can do with the podcast, and every group for that manner.

In conclusion, I learned have to have fun on everything I did in this class, I enjoyed it and worked hard at it. But I also spent time on everything, since most of the school will watch me, I tried to make everything funny and enjoyable, or as enjoyable it was for me making it. After the first month I knew to not mess around and get on task or I will produce bad content from procrastination and doing random shenanigans.

And with me working hard and learning everyday, I learned how to use a thing called Photoshop, and learned how to make these—
