On September 8th, 1979 Judith Moore and Jim Moore welcomed  a new baby girl into this world, Alecia Beth Moore, better known as P!NK was born in Doylestown Pennsylvania. Judith Moore was nurse and Jim Moore a Vietnam veteran, they divorced when Alecia was young.  She is Jewish on her mother’s side, and Irish, German, and English from her father’s side. Growing up Alecia idolized Madonna, Mary Jane, 4 Non Blondes, along with Whitney Houston. Much like most teenagers she went through her typical phases and hobbies, like Gymnastics, Skateboarding, This and many other rebellious acts caused her to be seen as a bad influence among the other children and families. She states “None of their parents likes me and my own parents were scared to death of me , and for me.” (P!NK)  but one thing that never went away was her love for singing.

She sang at clubs in Philadelphia Singing in guest spots or doing talent shows. By the time she was 14 she had become quite an experienced  entertainer.

While performing in a club at such a young age is a great opportunity to make a name for yourself it also has many negative effects on a young child’s mind, she was surrounded by a world of petty crime and drugs which nearly killed her at the young age of 15. She later dropped out of high school but returned in 1998 for her G.E.D.  While performing at her usual friday night gig , she was noticed by a record executive from MCA and was asked to audition for R&B band Basic Instinct. After trying the struggled to get on equal footing and disbanded after two years. After trying again with another R&B band called Choice ending in 1998, her talent still didn’t go unnoticed, she went out and began her solo career, Changing her name from Alecia Moore to the name we know her by P!NK. She got her name from the movie Reservoir Dogs, character Mr.Pink, many of her friends agreed they had a lot in common.

She began recording her first solo album Can’t Take Me Home in 2000. The record did very well going double-Platinum. She then released three singles “Most Girls”, “There you go”and  “you Make Me Sick”. This new found popularity had her opening up for popular band ‘N Sync. Even with her success P!NK never felt the need to hide her feelings, and was not satisfied, she was afraid she’d be put into the category of the other typical Pretty pop singers so she aimed higher for a deeper more care free sound.

Her edgy vibes really came through in 2001 when she collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Mya, And lil’ Kim in a “Lady Marmalade” in the same year she released a single from her second album “Get the Party Started” this quickly made its way into the top five. Later in 2003, P!NK released her fourth album, I’m Not Dead,  still to date this is one of her more honest song lineups. This record included her #1 hit single “Stupid Girls” playing off the dumb blonde stereotypes much like paris hilton, and Britney Spears. “It was more of a social commentary on these girls, who think they have to be stick thin and have the latest handbag.” (P!NK) she explains how you want to be beautiful do it for yourself not society.

2010 was really Alecia’s year, she released songs like “Perfect”,  “Raise Your Glass” In 2012 she released her sixth album “Truth about us” it made its way easily to the billboard top 200 with multiple top 10 singles. She has many other activities she dose outside of singing and writing for herself, she wrote songs for Celine Dion & Cher. She also did some acting staring in Thanks for Sharing , Along with covering popular songs for many movies such as “White Rabbit”  in Tim Burton’s “Through the Looking Glass” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” For the Netflix original musical series “Beat Bugs” She also dabbled in her more folksy side with the band You + Me and it too become a chart topper.
