Basics of Football

Football first started out as and evolved from soccer and rugby. It involves an oval-shaped ball called a football. The main idea is to get to the touchdown zone. You can get there either from the quarter back throwing the ball to a wide receiver or handing the ball off to the running back. The opposing team’s job is to keep them from moving towards the touch down and they can do this by tackling the opposing team player with the ball. There are different ways for the defensive team to get the ball back other than just stopping them on a 4th down is to either cause a fumble or to get an interception.

In the NFL today there are 32 teams, there has been 52 super bowls, and the first super bowl was January 12, 1967 with the Kansas City chiefs against the green bay packers. The packers won 35 and the chiefs where 10. The super bowl is the biggest game of the season for football players and is the greatest game you can play and it also is the most expensive with the most views.
