Mrs. Mabley, The Greatest P.E Teacher Ever To Live

Have you ever planned to do a certain career, but life took you in a whole new direction?
The person I chose to interview was Mrs. Mabley. She is the Physical Education teacher for the Fruita 8/9 High school. I started off with her childhood. Mabley grew up in Gypsum, but moved back and forth to Iowa several times. She grew up with an extremely inspirational PE teacher who, little did she know would affect her future career.
In the background she grew up in, college was a non-negotiable. With one sister by her side, they entered sixth grade together where “teachers began to really make you think about your career.” Then, moving into high school, she had wonderful grades and even was in the National Honors Society, as she was trying to set herself up for a career in Radiology.
Then we jumped into college surprisingly, she did not play any sports in her years at college, but loved watching the broncos play. She decided to go to Colorado Mesa University, but had no “dream college” or “high hopes” for different colleges to attend. Her experience at college was pleasant, “just normal” with thoughts of pursuing a career in radiology.
You might be wondering, “How did she ended up as a physical education teacher when she wanted to go into radiology?” She was performing a gross procedure and decided radiology was not for her.
Even though Mrs. Mabley did not expect to become a teacher, all of us at the 8/9 are very thankful to have her!
