The Journey of the Argonaut ♫

Brett Argo is the amazing band teacher at the Fruita 8/9 school. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma and was the oldest of 4 siblings, two brothers and one sister. He grew up with his family in New Mexico and always surrounded by a variety of different cultures. His family and him were always super close, and they all loved going camping, traveling and playing lots of fun games together. His favorite childhood pastime was playing baseball, listening and playing music. He had a good childhood full of love and passion around his family.

When his high school years rolled in, he was a student at Gallup High School, a public school in New Mexico. Argo ended up playing loads of sports during his four years of high school!! Tennis, basketball, and baseball were his favorites and he lettered in all three of them. Not only did he love sports, he also had favorite classes during the school day which were math, history, psychology, and of course, band. He was a proud 4.0 student and never struggled in any of his classes. Fun fact, when he was in high school, there were no AP classes available to take and the highest GPA and points available was 4 and not 5!! When he was old enough to get a job, he ended up working at a clothing store and worked for his father. By the end of high school, he decided to continue music and band for the rest of his life.

College came and he got accepted to the Easter New Mexico University, and ended up getting an undergraduate degree for BME (Bachelor in Music Education), then finished getting his MFA degree (Master in Fine Arts) over at the Western State Colorado University. He obviously decided to major in Music Education. There were lots of reason why he decided to proceed music as a degree and and a job. He loved music growing up and was raised in a very musically influenced family, most of them were band directors like him. During college, his hobbies were learning more about his degree, it never felt like work to him, also he loved hanging with his friend and watching lots of movies. He and his friends would always go out to the movies whenever a new movie came out, they would be there in no time ready to watch the movie, no matter what movie it ended up being.

Mr. Argo has now been teaching band for 37 years and he is still a proud band teacher. He wanted to teach 8th and 9th graders here at the Fruita 8/9 school because after teaching 6th through 8th grade for so long, having 9th graders to teach also made his experience that much better. His favorite part about teaching is the students. Watching them all improve throughout the year and seeing them grow and graduate. Outside of teaching, he is a husband of an amazing wife, and they love going outdoors and love hiking. They have a life goal of exploring all the National Parks in North America. He loves collecting baseball cards and baseball merchandise, especially from the Saint Louis baseball teams.
All in all, Brett Argo isn’t the scary and mean teacher nearly everyone sees him as. He his sweet and caring for his students and is a proud band teacher of the Fruita 8/9 school. We are proud to have him here too.
