The story of Mr. Decker

I interviewed F8/9’s computer and football coach Mr. Decker about his life’s story. Mr. Decker was born in Steam Boat Springs and lived in a small town called Milner. He has 2 older brothers and his family was very religious, outdoorsy, and always liked to work. He was either helping chop firewood or other labor things that nobody wanted to do. School for Mr. Decker was good and didn’t really see it as an educational opportunity but more to just hang out with his friends.
He was in wrestling, football, and track. His favorite subject was P.E. or math. He couldn’t really decide. High school was a lot more enjoyable than elementary. He was able to play more football and stretch his physical boundaries, and hang out with his friends. He went to Mesa College and (obviously) played football and got a P.E. major instead of a computer graphics major and a few other minors.
The reason he wanted to teach was because his dad was a teacher. He came to FMHS and was working as a P.E. assistant. At the time F8/9 was being built and many teachers were being moved over. The only reason he didn’t get the P.E. job was because Coop had already taken it. He was offered the computer teacher job, although he wasn’t enthusiastic about it he made more money and could coach football. Right now he is building a house with his wife and still teaching computers and coaching football.
