Final Essay
Believe it or not, the job of a high school news reporter isn’t as easy as it may seem, but it sure is more fun! Throughout the whole semester, Video Media Productions has made my year great. I have learned so many useful tools that I know I will use throughout my whole life. I will be shedding some light on what it has been like this past semester, and specifically what three tools I learned and benefitted me the most.
The first tool I learned throughout the semester was one of the most important ones. I learned how to transfer videos and pictures and how to edit them as well. In the future I want to be a movie director, as you may know they have to not only film, but they edit the movies and change it to their own taste. Going along with this topic, I also learned how to use things like video pad and Photoshop.
The second skill I perfected was teamwork. I learned how to work with peers that I might have not known before, I also learned how to act and what to do when on camera. When I first started the class, I only knew four people in the class. The others I had seen in the hallway a couple of times throughout the year but I didn’t know them. By the end of the year I know everyone and have worked with them all on various projects. I started with a podcast group and this helped me develop my talking skills and how to plan out what to say. As I moved up to the news crew, it was harder to not laugh, and say the right things while we were recording. But, as the year progressed my crew and I were practically professionals.
Lastly, I learned how to get all of my work done by deadlines. Coming into high school, I wasn’t aware of how much work I would have to do and that missing assignments were actually a really big deal for your GPA. My first semester, I was getting it easy by my teachers (they all let me have extensions to get my work done). But when I got to Video Media in the second semester, I learned that everything has to be done by the deadline, and preferably a day before. In life this will help me because for my job I will have deadlines and in college too.
In conclusion, I learned many skills in this class, and perfected many things that I already knew how to do. They will all contribute to my life skills, from a job, to college homework. I have enjoyed every bit of this class, and I plan to take it next year too.
