Personally, astronomy is my favorite type of science, not only because of its beauty, but because of how huge it is, how different it is than our normal planet and solar system. The fact that we as humans know more about space than our own ocean is astonishing.
What makes space so cool it never ends!! Space is huge, beautiful, and full of trillions of things we have no idea about. Also, the most power thing is in space and can be so large, they are light years across. Nothing on Earth is light years big or has more mass than the sun itself. It’s also just simply amazing how we know more about space than our own ocean!! There are so many planets out there past our solar system that could be just like Earth or be just like our solar system. Isn’t it cool how a day on Venus is an entire Earth year?! When your in space, the skin on your feet peels off like how reptiles shed their skin. Those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cool facts about space and why it is so cool.
Space may be scary at first, but looking deeper into the subject, or even deeper into space, you realize how beautiful and interesting it is compared to what we are used to seeing on Earth like mountains or oceans. The most beautiful thing in space in my opinion is not that one person you really like, but happens to be a nebula. If you have never seen a nebula, here is one:
They are clouds of gas in space just like we have here on Earth, only these are colorful and floating in space and can be much, much larger than our little planet. A cool thing about a nebula is that in the night sky, they can be bright and colorful, or dark and shady. A perfect example of this is when you look at the Orion Star Constellation. It’s called the Orion Nebula and is the nebula shown above. It is right next to one of the stars inside of Orion’s belt and can be seen through a telescope, bright and colorful.
Another cool thing in space is the mysterious… black hole. It is said to be the most powerful thing in the universe and the crazy science of gravitational defects.
Around a black hole, you can see stars twisting around it, and if they get too close, the black hole consumes the star. Black holes can range from kilometers wide, to light years wide, and the cool part is they’re not actually black!! They appear black in the sky because their gravitational pull is so strong, light can’t escape it!! No need to worry though, the closest black hole to our solar system is in our galaxy, yes, but it is currently dormant and is thousands of light years away. What makes black holes so cool also is that no one knows what inside. We know what the outside looks like and what is around the black hole, like twisting gravity pulls and the Event Horizon. That’s what makes space so cool too is because it may just be a hole in space, or it may be a ball of gravitational loops floating through space.
Space is so cool, not only because of the many beautiful things in space like nebulas, or the interesting black holes, but because compared to space, were a speck, it is just the coolest thing to thing about how small our planet is compared to the wondrous filled space. There is so much out there away from our planet that makes us feel so small and it is just so cool to know that there is beauty even in the blackness of space.
