American School Lunches vs Other Countries

American school lunches are known for many stereotypes, such as the mystery meatloaf and many other foods, but how do they compare to other countries? These photos were recreations of a typical meal provided by schools all over the world, by a photographer named Sweetgreen who did extensive research on cuisine, funding and basic data from many nations’ school lunch programs. These photos make the average American’s school lunch look sad. And the photo for the US makes our lunches even more sad, because schools in CO don’t typically serve chicken nuggets, and in order to get a chocolate chip cookie with lunch, students have to pay extra. Still our lunches are pretty good, and we love our lunch ladies. It just shows how our average cuisine compares to other countries. Thanks for reading and WILDCATS OUT!!!

  1. Where in the US did they find that lunch? That’s about twice the food and double the fruits and vegetables that my kids have seen at ANY school they’ve gone to!

    1. These images are from the site listed below. I can tell you that the portion size in this picture for the US seem a little larger than our school but the variety is pretty close.
