One month and 15 more days till the start of the best part of summer in the Grand Vally. JUCO!!! It starts on May 27th 2011 which is the banquet and on the 28th, the tournament starts. I am so excited for JUCO. The smell of corndogs, cotton candy, and sunflower seeds, the best. Personally, I think the night games are the best because just the way the field looks with the lights beaming down on the green grass, it puts it all together.
At the banquet, Bernie Williams, five-time All-Star and four-time World Series Champion, will be speaking. Jamie Hamilton announced that he will be the speaker and said this “We’re excited to have him and fortunate that he could fit it into his schedule.” Bernie Williams grew up in Puerto Rico, and played baseball and music. At age 17, Williams signed onto the New York Yankees and began his baseball career.
The Alpine Bank JUCO World Series should be a good season with all the colleges. I love sitting in the stands watching baseball all day and all night. Can’t wait! To bad city of grand junction does not really take inerest in baseball. Maybe we could have had the rockies class a team that is in casper. You want real memories? Have the city get us a hometown team we can get behind!
