Powderhorn’s New Ownership by Joe Horen

Powderhorn is a small mountain that is very popular to go to from Grand Junction sense it is so close. The only problem was that the mountain didn’t have very good ownership and it didn’t have very good lifts or parks. Well this year it just got bought by the owner of Beaver Creek and it is going to get a lot more new stuff that will help the mountain. Also the prices are much lower than last year’s tickets.

The new owner has promised to step up the terrain parks and add a lot more. This is good sense the terrain parks last year were near the bottom of the hill and weren’t great, especially the jumps were big but it was hard to have enough speed on some of them. The new snowmakers that he is putting in are going to help a lot sense they will make it easier to open so we will have a longer ski season. Plus they are going to have better grooming for the beginner riders. The best thing the new owner is going to do will not be up this year sense it would be too late in the season to start construction on are the new ski lifts that will be installed in 2012.This will help the west end of Powderhorn sense it has great runs only the lift is very slow. So make sure to look into buying some passes sense Powderhorn is sky rocketing up!

Also the new owner has dropped the prices for powder horn ski passes. The teens passes will only be $299 and the adults will be $399, the pre-teens will only be $199. This is a great deal for what Powderhorn is going to be like and the season will be longer sense they have better snowmakers. If you want to get into skiing this would be the time to do it sense prices are low and the runs will be great. If you want to get the whole family down they have a family discount for $1,220 and if you are in collage or if you’re military personnel the price is $399. You can buy tickets online and these discounts will raise on October 15th.

I would strongly recommend people who like to ski but don’t have the money to go up all the time to buy a season pass instead of just daily passes because they are great deals and it allows you to just go right up and also you don’t have to wait in line to just buy tickets. Even though the new lifts won’t be going up until next year everything else will be up there this year so it might take a while to go up but it will all be worth it when you get to go on the new parks and everything else.
