Should College Athletes be paid?

There has been decisions whether college athletes should be paid or not. From both options, there is different reasoning’s over powering the other reasoning. In my opinion, college athletes should be paid attending a sport. This is because having college athletes being paid makes more sense than college athletes not being paid. There only one reason why college athletes shouldn’t be paid: it’s because they already got a scholarship for their college. Looking the other way, having college athletes be paid has several reasons why they even should be paid even with their scholarship.

To begin with, college students that participate in sports use a lot of time to be a part of. That time comes from school time like classes and time to study. Taking that time from school to sports can result in not being able to turn in assignments and bad grades from not being able to study enough. Being a part of a sport requires good grades or they will be removed from their team, but some people can’t be able to do both. This is why college athletes should be paid because of the time they take away from school for a sport or two. Being able to pay college athletes will help them buy things in need from the time being used in a sport and it will pay off their time participating that sport. This is why college athletes should be paid participating in a sport. This has been one out of the three reasons college athletes should be paid.

Second of all, even though students look forward just toward an education, college students that are playing a sport usually come from a scholarship, a scholarship to a college students don’t plan on going for a specific education. Even with an average scholarship for an athlete of $25,000, that will only pay for university fees, tuition, housing, a meal-plan, and multiple hundred-dollar textbooks. The scholarship that was given to the student athletes is not worth it. Whether the scholarship pays more or less than what you have, practicing adds up that time from being more efficient in their classes, needing a little extra money to help those student athletes out. This is why college athletes should be paid because of that average scholarship not being worth it from the money being more, less, or even equal[CK1]  to going to college without one, even having the choice for the college students want to attend. Paying college athletes will help add up money towards their total scholarship. From the information that has been given, this is the reason why college athletes should be paid because of their scholarship and what it does exactly to that student. College athletes being paid comes from also from the scholarship that has been given, being the second reason why those student athletes should be paid even with their scholarship.

Finally, from a college keeping up to date, they receive extra money from extra-curricular activities. One of these activities comes from sports like football. While the college sport of football can earn money from the team’s standings for the school, the program, and coaches, the athletes get nothing. Even with the athletes symbolizing the school and all the support they get from the whole university, they receive nothing from the hard work they put in to a sport in terms of money that helps everyone but themselves; almost making the money for everyone else. This is why student athletes should be paid because even though the student athletes are supposed to support their school, being one of the best, their work supports everything but themselves in terms of money. Paying these athletes even with their scholarship will help everyone around and themselves, making them more motivated toward what they are doing. This is another reason why college athletes should be paid participating a sport.

From the information I provided, I can say that college athletes should be paid from the aspects of wasting time from school, the scholarship does not fully pay off, and that the athletes make money for the school and not themselves. All am am saying is like two or even a thousand dollars just so that it can pay off their hard work in sports, not the education because although the education is already paid for from their scholarship, not their extra-curricular activities. This is why college athletes should be paid.
