Mrs. LaCount was born in Grand Junction, CO, June 7, 1983. She also grew up right here in Fruita. Within her family, she has one older sister, a mom and a dad. As a kid, her favorite memory was hunting Easter eggs with her sister every year. She went too Fruita Monument high school, and was a competitive swimmer outside of school. Her favorite subject was always English. She took every English elective the school had to offer her. Throughout all of her school years, she has always loved the subject of English/ literacy.
She graduated in 2001, and then attended Mesa State University. She majored in English and secondary education to become a teacher. She then graduated Mesa in 2005. The interesting thing about Mrs. Lacount is that before she became a teacher, she worked at the hospital. She worked as a phlebotomist, which is a person who draws blood. She has many stories also about working at ER part of the hospital.
She is one of the most liked teachers throughout all of the high school. She has been teaching for 9 years so far. She taught one year at Palisade and 8 at Fruita and only teaches 9th grade English. She absolutely loves teaching freshmen and always will. She also has two younger kids, one girl and one boy. Mrs. Lacount is a teacher who really does take the time to get to know each of her students, and gets too know them as a person. Which is the main reason students love her.
