Woman for President?

clinton

Women have always had trouble with equal rights throughout all of history, no matter where you are or where you look. Men have always held a higher power over women, and in the U.S, it seems to still be happening, but the presidential election is coming up and a women is running. The women would happen to be Hillary Clinton. She is married to former president, Bill Clinton, and is also a former United States Senator. Clinton announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the presidency in the 2016 election. There are a lot of people in the U.S and around the world, who think a woman is not fit or qualified enough to have such power.

One of the main reasons many people believe that a woman should not be president, is because of women’s hormones, and how woman are too emotional too have that kind of power. Women’s emotions, and hormonal up and downs, are why people think and strong, non-hormonal, man should be running the country. Some people are just looking at the title of “First Woman President”, and not looking at what is right for their country. In 1955, according to Gallup, only 52 percent of Americans said that they could support women for president. By 1987 still only 82 percent of electorate was ready for “Madam President”. By 2012, that number had risen to 95 percent”, this percentage just might make Hillary president.

Women being president is just another argument in America about equal rights. It’s also about what people think women can or cannot do. Women have been able to run for president for a while now, the only difference is that Hillary is the one who is actually running. The reason women being president is scary for Americans, is because it’s never been done before. Women for as far back have always been shown as weak and not “man” enough, or strong enough to have power or have control, but maybe this is the time where women are going to have power.
