Long Passes, touchdowns, field goals, injuries that make you cringe, screaming referees, and thousands of dedicated fans filling the stands. In my opinion, football is better than basketball. Football is more competitive, physical, draws more people to it, and gives you the “cringe factor”.
When watching football, of course you’re waiting for the “big play” of the game, but also you’re paying attention to the offensive and defensive lines, and the hairs on your back are sticking up as you see your favorite player be tackled on the 40 yard line or the excitement you get when your team makes a touchdown! With basketball, the most excitement is when a player dunks the ball and occasionally a buzzer beating shot. Usually, the game is slow. Filled with fouls that turn into free-throw shots, when football is thrilling and full of excitement. “Football it isn’t just game it is like an art, where people not only run with the ball, but also they show feints with the ball, team playing and beautiful goals.” (CreateDebate)
Next, “when it comes to dollar signs, the NFL squashes 
everything in its path.” (Baxter) The marketing for football is way better than it is for basketball. Every year, the NFL makes more and more money. “…Leagues revenue is closer to $9.5 billion. But in the years 2014-2022, $5 billion just make it in television revenue.” (Baxter) I mean just look at what they charge for Super Bowl tickets every year. But the NFL is definitely King of marketing. “They partner with beer companies and sell NFL apparel. Fans love NFL because they know what they want to buy… The marketing for the NBA is a bit cheap, and in some cases not very effective.” (Debate.org)
My opponents may say that I am wrong because basketball is very fast paced, scores constantly change, and the athletes are more-fit. That’s their opinion, but I disagree, sometimes it’s just about the drama. Basketball maybe fast paced but sometimes people like football for the drama when someone gets hurt, or the reactions of the people on the sidelines when the other team intercepts the ball.
In conclusion, football is better than basketball because it’s a much more crowd pleasing and exciting game. The game gets your blood pumping and on the edge of your seat. They also produce better product and have a better marketing system. Football is America’s sport.
