All About Mrs. Willford

Mrs. Willford, Fruita 8/9’s favorite AP human geography teacher. She is always getting students excited to learn and making what she teaches unique and current. 

Mrs. Willford was born in North Dakota, but grew up in the Grand Valley after moving here when she was 7. She grew up with her two older sisters, and had a normal but good childhood. As a Kid she played a lot of soccer and enjoyed the outdoors and being active. Some of Mrs.Willford’s favorite memories as a kid were going on road trips with her family, because her sisters and her would put down all the seats in their station wagon and play games together. She attended grade school at Holy Family Catholic School, and went to high school at Grand Junction High School, and finished off her schooling at Colorado Mesa University. 

During High School Mrs. Willford was very active in school events, and went to all the dances and always participated in spirit weeks and school events. She was also an Athlete, playing soccer and basketball and as far as jobs go she babysat a lot and during her junior year she got a job working at the front desk o

f a doctors office and worked there until she graduated college. High school for Mrs.Willford was positive, and your typical experience. Mrs. Willford attended CMU where she majored in History and secondary education, and got her masters degree in curriculum instruction and assessment. While at CMU she also played soccer and was the goalie.

After graduating, Mrs.Willford became a high school teacher because she has always liked kids, ever since she was little when her mom would foster kids. She also grew up with a family of educators, her mom was a teacher and both her sisters are too. Mrs. Willford prefers teaching high school students because they are fun to be around, are driven by goals, and are like mini adults. 

 Mrs. Willford, along with teaching enjoys spending time with her husband and her son, who is a senior in high school, her daughter who is a 7th grader, and their dog, a mini Australian Shepard. In her free time she likes to mountain bike, ski, do cross fit, read, and support her kids. Naturally, as a human geography teacher she also loves travelling and has been to many countries but her favorites being Italy and Spain. 

Mrs. Willford Has been teaching for 15 years, and plans on teaching for many more. You can find her always showing school spirit, encourage attendance at sporting events and school activities, along with always participating in spirit days and being kind to everyone at the school. Mrs. Willford is loved by all here at Fruita 8/9!
