Should kids learn how to cook at a young age?

Should kids learn how to cook their own food? I think there is only one answer, yes kids should learn how to cook their own food. There are many benefits kids can get from this. Some of them being its preparing them for their future, it can help them make healthy food decisions, and be appreciate of what your family or friends do and the time they tale to help provide things for you.

First off, kids should learn to take part in a everyday life style. A Lot of kids these days don’t know how to cook. I feel like everyone should know to cook by the age of 10 because that’s the age where you start becoming more independent and not relying on someone else all the time. A good way to start your kid off in wanting to cook is letting them be in the kitchen with you and have them help you with the little things. This makes them feel like they are able to be independent and help contribute. They will soon realize that they are big enough to start being more independent and being able to start to grow up and have a good future because your not relying on someone else 24/7.Critical Thinking. Another reason kids should learn to be able to cook is because its helping them make healthy food decisions and know the difference between what is good for your body and what is not so good for your body. Cooking can show kids what foods are good for them and if they should eat them all the time and which foods are not so good for you. This is because they will be looking at the certain ingredients and be able to see the preservatives or calories that go into the food.Healthy Eating Plate | The Nutrition Source | Harvard T.H. There is much more to just learning how to cook. There is many life skills that are being included into this. A teacher at Fruita 8/9 that teaches food science said, “Kids learning to cook end up being very successful as they grow older and start being more independent. They learn math skills with measuring ingredients, reading labels, and even a little science with mixing certain things together. Kids in my class always love coming in knowing they get to cook something for themselves or other people and eating it knowing they did that all by themselves and it went successfully”.

To conclude kids should grow up learning how to cook food because it can benefit them a ton later in life and can make it so they become more independent at a young age and aren’t relying on people. It can help make healthy food choices and is able to make kids all ages more appreciative of what goes into cooking 3 meals everyday for you
