Multimedia final essay by: Joseph Marsh

Despite what a lot of people might think, there are a lot of things in school that you will use in the future, today I’m going to talk about the things I learned in Multimedia and how I could use these skills in the future, specifically I’m going to talk about working in a group, using adobe premiere and similar software, and getting work done on time.

In Multimedia you need to work in a group for most or all of your jobs. Most of the jobs I have had in Multimedia were group things like making the school news, and production of Iroar commercials, etc. out in the real world you are going to have to work with people on a lot of things so you should try to master this skill quickly. Hence, it’s easier for you in the future. One of the downsides of working in a group is having to work with difficult people, we have all had to deal with that one person in a group project who doesn’t work or listen to the plan and generally doesn’t cooperate, I have learned that the best way to deal with these people is always remain calm and never lose sight of reason if you act calm and rationally they will realize that what their doing is wrong and cooperate with you, this doesn’t always work so be ready with some other solutions.

Another big part of Multimedia is using editing software such as adobe premiere and adobe photoshop, we do a lot of filming and editing for different things like the “project group”, fruita news, and Iroar commercials. This is also an excellent skill to have in the future because it can be used in jobs and for your hobbies, let’s say your workplace needs a new commercial for whatever service they provide but don’t have the money to hire somebody else to make the commercial for them, with your handy editing skills you can whip up a commercial in no time earning high praise and it can wok towards you getting a future promotion. The main downside of adobe premiere and similar editing software is it may take a lot of time to edit videos and such, properly because there are so many details that go into editing and making a good video.

Finally, I would like to talk about getting work done on time which is VERY important for multimedia but also for your future. In multimedia, a lot of projects are highly time-sensitive and if not done properly or on time could mess up the advisory schedule and the schedule of the class itself. Obviously, this will be useful in the future because if you aren’t getting work done on time at your future job you could get deducted pay or you could even get fired. For me and a lot of other people a big obstacle to getting work done on time is being a procrastinator, one way to get around this is splitting one big task into many smaller tasks and starting with the easiest part and moving up until you work is finished, another good way to help get work done on time is working in a group that encourages you to work and try hard.

In conclusion, these have been some of the things I have learned in multimedia, how to use them in real situations, the downsides of these skills, and how to get around those downsides. Thank you for reading and I hope this could help you in the future.
