Role Model: Good or Bad?

holding_hands_10806People have mixed feelings about children having a role model other than the parents. I agree with the idea of having a role model other than a parent. In order for them to be effective and helping they need to be older. Around 18-22 years of age. Also if you are a girl have a girl role model and vice versa for guys. Having someone else other than parents to talk to and hang out with is a huge plus. You have someone else to vent to and to talk to about your life and its occurrences. They can help you with your struggles and be there for support and advice. Mesa County has established a partners program for kids of any age. They stand as role models when parents are busy. They are care takers. Also they are someone else you can hang out with and look up to. Having a role model helps a child focus on their goal in life with the support of someone else. Having a role model shows a child it is possible to achieve anything. Frankly the only thing I see to be impossible is attempting to slam a revolving door. Without role models it seems as though we wouldn’t dream big and set high goals. Role models show us something we want to be and change on our own, and in our own way. Parents that don’t think kids and teens should have role models are corrupting there children of dreaming big and setting goals in life. Parents should be supporting this idea. They should be pushing their kids to doing their best and supporting greater potential. Role models are a huge part in a child’s life. Role models show a child what they are and what they have in them. Many role models is a better thing for kids. Each person shows a kid or teen something new and different. I approve the idea of a child/ teen having an adult role model. I approve having multiple role models. The last  thing they do is they help the person make the right choices in life. They act as guides. I say if you aren’t influencing someone’s life find anyone that seems like they need it and be a part of their life.
