Interview with Mrs. Mixon

By: Joe Horen

Mrs. Mixon is a World Geography teacher who was born in Grand Junction, Colorado.  She has lived in Grand Junction for most her life, she attended Montrose High School for her whole high school career. She grew up with her parents and brother in Montrose until she moved on to college where she attended Dodge City Community College. Then she moved on to The University of Southern Colorado, after that she went to Western State College. The job she wanted when she was young was to be a teacher and she fallowed that dream.

When she was growing up she was always a kind of outdoors person; she would spend her free time outside hunting, fishing or hiking. Also she would care for her cows and that normally summed up the day for her. She also was very involved in sports where she played basketball, softball, volleyball and track. She is an active person whose favorite class was P. E. and she still continues to have that active personality. Other than the outdoors she also liked to listen to classical music and some rock, she could listen to most music other than rap.

The reason why I chose to pick Mrs. Mixon for this interview is because she is an outgoing teacher who always makes her classroom fun even when she has to give lectures. Also she doesn’t just teach one class but she also does Service Learning and Recs. The other reasons are because she seems like a down to earth teacher who doesn’t spend most of her life in the classroom and she has a fun outdoorsy personality.
