Mrs. Gunn Interview

Having returned to Fruita 8/9 to fill in for Mrs. Lipson’s class, I have interviewed (mostly) Math teacher Mrs. Gunn.

What was the coolest thing that you ever did as a kid?

She states, “I spent hours every week studying and doing ballet, it was my passion.”

What was the worst thing that happened to you as a kid?

“Kids made fun of my first name: Peggy.” As in they called her mean names like piggy 🙁

When did you decide that you were going to be a teacher?

She states that when the whole ballerina stuff fell through she would become a teacher.

Were you a straight A student?

“Most of the time…” Mrs. Gunn is a fun teacher.

How long did you teach?

“About 30 years.”

What subjects did you teach?

“Mostly just Math and some English.”

What grades did you teach?

“About 20 years of Elementary, 6 years Middle School, and about 5 years of  High School.”

Mentioning the fact that no one has been able to sub for Mrs. Lipson’s 9th Grade Math Class longer than a couple of months, I asked,

What made you sub for the ill-fated Mrs. Lipson’s class?

“Friends needed some serious help because of how unfortunate that class has been with their subs. Hopefully I can stay there the entire time.”

What’s on you bucket list?

Short-term

“Teach Math to kids who hate Math!”

Long-term

“Travel; get to Scotland in order to trace family roots.”

And that was Mrs. Gunn, she is a great teacher and I hope everyone gets along with her and learns some Math.
