Mr. Perez

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMr. Perez was born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico and he also grew up there. Within his family he has two sisters, a mom and a dad. He went to Esquela Secondaria #26 (yes that is the name of the school) for elementary and he went to high school at Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa, here he was involved in soccer and track. As a kid Mr. Perez loved to go to the beach; only 10 minutes away from his house. Later in his life Mr. Perez met his wife in college and they got married in 2006. Just last year they had their first kid in February and hopefully within the next 5 to 10 years he’s going to have another.

Throughout his whole time in school he loved history and this is probably what influenced him to wanting to become a teacher when he grew up. At age 17 Mr. Perez moved from Mexico to Grand Junction. He went to college at CMU and soon, after earning his bachelors in teacher’s language, went on to go to UNC to earn his masters in teacher’s language. Within his college and high school years Mr. Perez was like a lot of other students and he worked when he could. As a student Mr. Perez worked as a landscaper, tutor, waiter, and had many other jobs as well. In 2007 Mr. Perez started teaching but it wasn’t as easy as he thought. For him the worst part of teaching was that if he had done everything he can and the kids don’t understand the message still. In Mr. Perez’s words he says, “I talk to fast, uhh I move too fast in the classroom, and hmmm praising with kids” which were his thoughts of what his weaknesses are. Although he has these weaknesses his main goal is to make sure every kid understands the subject and that they do well in school. As a teacher Mr. Perez teaches many students, but he’s not quite done as a student himself. His goal in the next ten years is to earn his doctors degree.
