Homework is Stressful

Are you sick and tired of homework? Because I know I am, and there is proven facts that it is just a waste of time. “A Stanford researcher has found that students in high-achieving communities who spend too much time on homework experience more stress, physical health problems, a lack of balance, and alienation from society.” Homework is a waste of time in all directions, a waste of time you should be spending with your friends and family not stuck in your room at your desk dyeing of you working so hard, it causes mental illness.stress-2

Now the pressure, there is so much out on you when you do homework because you’re afraid that if you get it wrong you are going to get a bad grade because that’s what homework is about average 20% of your whole grade. So your homework counts and some teachers even put a category in your grade called timeliness, it’s for when you turn things in on time and it’s usually about 10 to 15% of your grade so you have to turn your things in on time. Now to mention the kids who play a sport, I play volleyball and I have practice every day after school from 3 to about 5:30, my schedule is up at 5:00 am every morning catch the bus at 6:25am, school, practice, You are not allowed to play if you have one F or two D’s so you have to be a great student if you play a sport and its very stressful.

Grades are a big part of school, decently in middle school but in high school your grades are your life because that’s going to live with us for the rest of our life when we need to apply for job. “Stress is very unhealthy for growing teens and statistics show that 29% of 15-year-old students report spending 2 1/2 hours or more on homework daily in the U.S. More homework means more stress. Stress can cause many things including: lack of sleep, slipping grades, fatigue, unhealthy eating habits, depression, and many more other factors. A teen should not have to face depression at such a young age.” Isn’t that a bit much? Now not only is there mad hours of homework on a daily bases, imagine what all the honor students have to go through.

I’m thinking that this isn’t going to change very soon so here are 3 tips on how to fix these problems. Number 1, set aside a certain time based on your homework allow more time for more complicated assignments. Number2, don’t procrastinate because the faster you get it all done the more time you have on your hands. And number 3, don’t turn anything on! Phones, computer (unless needed), TV, game, nothing should be on. So there you have it, we can make it our own.
