Any functioning organization needs good leadership. It takes someone who can be structured but also react on the spot. The fruita 8/9 school has many great teachers and staff members and administrators, with a great person to lead the pack. Mr.Jason Plantiko is that leader.
Mr. Plantiko is a family man, he has 2 daughters and is married. He is an avid wakeboarder and boater. His family has 3 pets: a dog, cat, and fish. Mr. Plantiko says his favorite part of being a principal is seeing student’s succeed.
Mr.Plantiko was born in Redondo Beach California, where he learned to skate and surf. Then moved to Craig where his 2 younger brother’s and him grew up. His childhood was fun, he grew up playing football and wrestling, also getting involved in water sports such as water skiing and boating. As his older years approached thing’s got a little harder. His parents’ divorce made life a little harder, his parent’s got the kids for half a year each. He went to 2 different high schools, one in the fall the other in the spring, he would play football for one team and run track for the opposite high school.
As a college student Mr. Plantiko attended Fort Lewis College in Colorado, where he got his teaching degree and followed that up with getting his masters at New Mexico Highlands. He also worked at City Market and at the coal mine in Craig. He’s started out as a teacher and many colleagues suggested becoming an administrator.
In conclusion Mr.Plantiko is a great leader and a successful man. If you were wondering, I’m also his favorite student. He is a great example for the student’s and staff. We couldn’t ask for a better leader and principal.
