Brittany Smith is an amazing Comp-Lit teacher at Fruita 8/9 and here is a bit about her.

Brittany Smith was born April 17, 1988, in Fort Collins, CO while her dad was a student at CSU. She enjoys playing piano and used to teach piano lessons, she loves to read and loves camping, hiking, and biking with her family. Her favorite color is blue and she doesn’t really have a favorite food, but her family always gets frustrated when she sneaks veggies into everything. If she could have any superpower she would pause time! It seems like there’s never enough time for the things she needs and wants to do. That’s actually really cool. I would’ve just said something like invisibility.

Some lessons that she has and still is to this day learned from life is that “you can’t please everyone, especially when it comes at your own expense. I have to take care of myself and my family before I can take care of others.” Truer words have never been spoken.

As a kid, she really loved her younger sister. Mrs. Smith says that her sister was way cooler than her and Mrs. Smith always wanted her confidence. For her first job she worked at a restaurant called Prime Cut for about a week before they shut down. So she instead counts Sears as her first job.

In high school, she had many teachers, but there was one that she had all four years and let her eat lunch in his room every day in her senior year because all of her friends had graduated a year before she did. He knew her really well and still remembers her when she sees him around town. Mrs. Smith Coincidentally always loved her English, History, and German classes and she really enjoyed that she was able to hang out and take classes with people who weren’t in her grade in high school. She was pretty shy, though, so she hated having to sit by kids who were loud and obnoxious. I mean who does,  am I right? It turns out that Mrs. Smith was super quiet most of the time, and one teacher even called her “reclusive” and it took a lot for her to learn to be more social. For College, she went to CMU, although it was Mesa State College back then. She always knew that she wanted to be a teacher but she didn’t know if she wanted to teach English, history, or music. Something she always loved about college is that she was in upper-level classes with other people who wanted to be there and worked hard, but she never lived on campus so she didn’t have the whole crazy party experience.

After college, her first job was actually here at Fruita 8/9. She student-taught here and loved it so much that she never left! I asked her what her ideal job is and she said that this is it! It can be rough some days and with some people, but she can’t see herself doing anything else at the end of the day. I am glad Mrs. Smith is thriving in her dream job and doing a fantastic job at it as well. She has been married to her husband, Wes for 13 years, with three girls, ages 11, 8, and 4. Mrs. Smith met Wes at church. He was interested in her best friend and called her for advice. Sounds like a Nicholas Sparks movie to me. Something she admires about her family is that they know how to forgive. Her girls fight like crazy, but then one of them will take a step and they’ll all play together. I wish me and my brother worked like that. Mrs. Smith also has three sisters and a brother, all of them younger. The youngest will graduate high school at the end of May. She has a lot of inspiration for a lot of different things but one of the biggest things that inspire her is her family. Her kids are awesome for so many different reasons and she loves them to the moon and back. Fun Fact Her family always calls her Britty when they say her name fast.

To wrap up this biography I think we can all agree that Mrs. Smith is an amazing person and a fantastic teacher. She loves her family and always knows what to say. She is easily one of my favorite teachers and will always be easy to remember. She has the job of her dreams and an amazing personality. What more do you need to know?
