Did you ever have something that you liked as a kid but have grown to like? It could be anything from a simple toy or a whole franchise. For me, that was Pokemon, a franchise that is based on creatures that you train and to become a pokemon master. There is something you need to know before we go that is that there are things that are called shiny pokemon. Shiny pokemon are super rare with a 1/4096 of spanning and that is the most common rate being double that. Shinies have a key difference and that is that they are different colors than the original so some can turn out cool or horrible. So let’s dive into more about pokemon
The games are something that I am most familiar with. The games are one of their biggest sales other than the two I will talk about. The games follow a storyline of your goal is to bet the champion and be the champion. In every game, your first pokemon is a starter that is either grass, fire, or water type. As you pick one you progress through the game having to face your rival from time to time while betting gyms(you have to bet eight of them) so you actually can fight the champion. Oh? You thought that was all in your journey there are two more things one of them usually being a fun gimmick something you get mid-game that is stupidly good or really bad and gym leaders or big fights usually use them too. Then the second thing is an evil group that just slows you down just for the storyline but you can sometimes get a legendary pokemon that is ridiculously strong. There are many smaller details but there are already a lot. These games alone cost 90 Billion dollars in total. For example, it would take you 546946216.955 days or 1498482.78618 to spend if you spent 164 dollars a day (people on average around 164 dollars a day). Still, then There are also two more big money makers.
The next big money maker is pokemon cards. They are like Yugioh cards but with pokemon and somewhat easier to understand. The top of the card will tell you its name and show you a picture of the pokemon in different styles like realistic pictures are cartoonish ones. Next, you can see the moves that it has and battle stuff. Oh, ya you can battle but I’m not bringing how to do that because it is very complicated so here is a link that explains How to play. The nice thing is that there are about three types of people, the people who collect them(me), The people who battle, and people who trade. All the names say what they do. There is one last thing about these cards. They all have ratings, For example, you could find a shiny Charizard Vmax that you could sell or buy for 1,000+ dollars. So what is the rarest card and how much does it cost? Finally, how much do cards sell? The rarest card is a Pikachu Illustrator Promo Card worth over 200,000 thousand dollars(US). Also, 31 billion cards have been sold in their lifetime. So now let’s look at the anime series.
The first Anime series was released on April 1, 1997. This series would mark the many more to come. There are many other series that follow a character named Ash. His dream is to become a pokemon master. Ash usually follows a similar path as the protagonist in the games but follows off the usual path. He will sometimes meet the actual game protagonist. Also, each series goes off of each region/game. This series usually has two seasons with the second coming out later. The first season is just getting to know the new region and to set up Ash as a character. The second Season just has some storyline and a lot more battles. In every series ash never becomes a champion or wins a league Ash always comes in second. So how much money does it actually make? In total the Pokemon anime series has made 92 Billion dollars. The Pokemon franchise is a great Franchise that is really kid-friendly. Though that’s is not why I like it but other people do like it for that. There is one last thing I mention but forgot to talk about is regions. Regions are just different parts of the Pokemon world usually having a connection with a real-world location with new pokemon.
