Tattoos

There are many views on getting tattoos, in which some of those views are positive and negative. Research has been shown to the British Sociological Association and they found that “no matter how intelligent and articulate a job applicant is, if they have a visible tattoo, most would-be employers will secretly rule them out as looking “dirty” and “unsavory” or even “repugnant”.”

Most employers who don’t have anything against body art would still think twice before hiring an employee with tattoos because it may damage their corporate image. But those tattoos from an employee’s childhood my help them with a job, if they want to be a prison officer. There can also be tattoos that can convey a positive image such as military tattoos worn by a veteran which can be a badge of honor.

One advantage of having a tattoo would be self-expression. But tattoos ruin most prospects of getting a well-paying job, but some employers don’t care if you have a tattoo as long as it’s covered up. Many people have arguments against tattoos saying things like “would you put a bumper sticker on a Ferrari?” or “what will happen when you get older?” or even “people with tattoos are just sheep following a herd”. All of these arguments are irrational and usually made by people with a bias against tattoos but my argument to them would be, if it’s my Ferrari then I can do what I wish with it, and when I get older and have tattoos a lot of people in my age group will have tattoos so if I go into a nursing home I know I will be in good company. But it isn’t just about who you are with, many people think tattoos will get saggy and wrinkle with your skin but tattoos have advanced a lot and they are not just wet paint that will droop and become faded, but you can always touch up tattoos. And finally defining people with tattoos as sheep following a herd is like saying that people who wear pants are sheep.
