In this game a young child climbs to the top of a very dangerous mountain named mount Ebott where it is said that everyone who climbs it are never seen again. The human name Chara fall down the hole at the top of the mountain landing in a patch of golden flowers. They get up and see a door in the darkness as they enter the door a sliver of light shines down reviling a golden flower like the ones before but this one has a face. The living flower offers them help but betraying almost instantly knocking them down about to murder them. Out of nowhere a fireball is shot at the flower scaring it off. From out of the shadows the queen of the underground toriel offers them help and healing Chara. Toriel takes Chara through the ruins beating all the puzzles and literally holding their hand the whole way. Until they reach a long hall way where tori tests chara by rushing ahead and leaving them behind but she was there the whole time watching over them. After chara catches up tori realizes here house isn’t clean so she gives chara a cell phone and rushes home.
Chara now alone in the latter half of the ruins but not before resting in a pile of leaves. On the way they encounter monsters like the jelly like moldsmal and the frogits. Also more puzzles awaited them like not stepping on the leaves, a room that turns, a single switch, and more death defying puzzles! Before reaching the home of toriel she finds a toy knife on a cliff. Then she finally reaches tori’s home where she is waiting with butterscotch cinnamon pie and a warm bed for chara. They sleep for a few hours but they wake up wanting to go home she goes to the living room where tori is reading and asks to go home hearing this tori runs to go destroy the exit. Chara followers her begging her to stop.
Tori demanding chara ether fights or runs away she attacks chara with her fire magic. Chara refuses to fight back just doges and gets hit when tori breaks down not being able to hurt chara any more hugs them and lets them leave the cave. Chara enters into the snowy underground forest of snowdin.
