Over this semester I worked on lots of projects with my peers. Everything that we worked on was fun and it was nice to see the results of our work. This is the first time I’ve really had to focus on using different programs and teamwork so profusely. Not to mention everything had a strict timeline.
When we were doing the announcements or commercials, they had to be done by Thursday. It was important to learn that some things are non-negotiable. When it is due, it’s due. In the future an employer isn’t going to be lenient. Companies have to work on a strict timeline. Not to mention that if you don’t finish your work sometimes others can’t finish their’s.
Teamwork is very important, and it was nice that we had lots of it this semester. In both the commercial and the news groups we had to work with the entire group, and with the other group to make it all work. Even though my group really only had two of us we were able to work well, and quickly together.
We very often had to change what programs we were using. One week it was photoshop, then premiere, then just google docs. In each different group we had to learn how to use different programs, and use them efficiently. With the news being twice a week, to the project group changing each week, we had many programs we had to multiple programs we had to switch between; without really focusing on any of them.
This semester everything sort of tied together. Working on a timeline, teamwork, and working on different programs. I’ve never really been in a class where everyone is doing their own thing like this.
